Applied Science is a laboratory-based journey through the fundamental laws that govern our universe, our planet, and our future. Instead of just memorizing facts, students act as investigators, using Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Environmental Science to solve problems and explain the world around them.

Applied Science is the strategic bridge in our school’s science pathway (Biology → Chemistry → Physics). It is specifically designed to help you:
Balance Your Schedule: Insert this class before or after Biology to pace your science requirements over your four years.
Align with Math: Build your technical literacy and problem-solving skills while you work toward the math prerequisites (Geometry/Trig) recommeded for Chemistry and Physics.
Stay Scientific: Maintain your scientific momentum without feeling rushed, ensuring you are prepared for advanced courses.
By the end of this course, students will not just "know" science; they will be able to read a graph and explain it, write a scientific claim with evidence, and verbally defend their ideas to their peers. Students leave this class prepared to be informed citizens who can think critically about the technical world they live in.

To stay organized, we use two primary "Learning Tools" in every unit:
📖 The Glossary: This is a vocabulary-focused class. You will build a personalized Glossary Packet to deeply understand scientific terms—not just memorize them.
📓 Guided Notes: Each unit section includes a packet with a visual cover page, guided notes, and a summary/reflection to answer the Essential Question
🔒 Lockers: Students are highly recommended to get a locker in the 400 hallway if possible, as storing projects in the classroom can be tricky.

⏳ Late Work Policies
Classwork is designed to prepare you for the big moments. To keep you on track, we follow these guidelines:
The "Final" Deadline: All classwork for a unit must be turned in by the day of the End-of-Unit Test.
Retake Policy: You may retake each unit test once during Lion Time or after school to prove mastery.
Labs & Projects: These have stricter deadlines. Labs often cannot be made up if missed because the equipment is only set up for that day.
