Near-term

  • Deploying more license plate readers (LPRs) and Pan-tilt-zoom cameras (PTZs) than are currently in place

  • Upgrading the components needed to integrate private cameras into Operation Shield

  • Encouraging businesses to connect to Operation Shield with new and existing cameras

  • Formalizing a sustainable camera maintenance program

  • Ensuring the Video Integration Center is staffed and managed optimally

  • Offering special rewards for crimes committed in Buckhead, funded by the Buckhead community

  • Increasing the marketing of the program throughout the city via billboards or other means

  • Funding and establishing a supplementary, multi-car dedicated security patrol utilizing off-duty sworn officers of APD, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol. The supplementary patrol will be for exclusive use within Buckhead commercial corridors and will be managed by the Zone 2 Commander at APD to augment on-duty APD patrol

  • Engaging existing neighborhood security patrols to form a coordinated patrol of Buckhead residential areas, including the establishment of a coordinated communications platform

  • Examine the existing Clean Car Campaign for effectiveness and modify it as needed to meet the current conditions in Buckhead

Longer-term

  • Providing feedback to funders to demonstrate the return on investment

  • Establishing a new communications framework for information gathering and dissemination between Zone 2 and the public, utilizing existing and/or new platforms to provide accurate, timely information to Buckhead residents and businesses

  • Providing feedback to funders to demonstrate the return on investment

  • Investigate technology to enhance and supplement enforcement efforts, piloting their use in Buckhead for potential use throughout the city

  • Increase Buckhead community support for the establishment of a new training center for APD and Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department

  • Work with the court system to address repeat offender sentencing

  • Work with all levels of government to address the proliferation of illegal firearm possession

  • Examine the probation officer program in the city for opportunities
