We are always looking for ways in which we can include employers and the labour market in our careers program, so if you feel like you are able to work with us please contact the careers lead Becky Wyles at:

The pupils have enjoyed working with the work force this year via different virtual activities, such as the our careers fair and Q&A sessions surrounding different industries. We had Q&A sessions with: photographers, doctors, chefs, jewellers etc.
The year 8 pupils have embarked on our first annual enterprise 'drop down' day, where they worked with Lindum to design a sustainable product made out of the 3 million tonnes of discarded used tyres around the world!
We are always excited to understand career prospects in different industries and where our favourite subjects can lead us; therefore if you would like to offer the school a workshop that involves the subjects related to your industry or STEM activities; we will be excited to work with you! We have amazing interest from the pupils each year at the annul Construction Event at the Lincolnshire Showground.
Have a look at our long term plan for the year, to see if you think you could help with one of our sessions, or if you feel that you could add a new meaningful activity for our pupils.
The school will make a suitable space available for discussions between the provider and students, as appropriate to the activity. The school will also make available ICT and other specialist equipment to support provider presentations. This will all be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Advisor or a member of their team.
Providers are welcome to leave a copy of their prospectus or other relevant course literature with the Careers Advisor so that they can be displayed in the Careers library.
Work experience has been hard to come by over the last two years due to the ongoing pandemic; therefore we have looked to employ virtual work experience to enable our pupils to gain valuable insight into the working world.
We were able to have year 10 and 11 pupils complete work experience with a difference; the pupils carried out the placements from the comfort of their classroom, via virtual headsets. This was a great opportunity for the pupils as the prospects were made greater by having more working environments (such as fire and rescue, the Red Arrows and the Police Dog section) that they wouldn’t ordinarily be given the opportunity of due to age and health and safety restrictions.
Athena school have been pioneering in this new program, as we have been the first in the region to carry out the use of the virtual headsets, which caught the eye of our local news programme Look North. The pupils were extremely excited to see themselves on the television, as was Mrs. Wyles. The whole school were very proud of them.
However we would love to create 'in person' experiences of the work place, and so we are keen to work with industries to create visits of different work places and include industry specific activities.
