Online Communication Arts Month and Teen Read Week Celebration
Online Communication Arts Month and Teen Read Week Celebration
This year, the English Subject Area is launching its Reading Interest Program, a year long project to promote the love of reading to the students of the AJHS. The main vehicle for this program is the Online Communication Arts Month (OnCAM) with various and exciting activities that will happen in October and November. Along the same line, part of the mission of the Educational Media Center (EMC) would be to promote the love for literary appreciation and provide the environment for learning with access to all kinds of formats and resources.
The culmination of the event will be Teen Read Week. The theme for this year is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go! @ your Library. The theme is based on the book by Dr. Seuss that reminds everyone along the way that “Today is your day”, and “You’re off to great places.” The lesson of this classic children’s book is that life is a journey full of highs and lows - some days “you’ll move mountains” and other days “you’ll feel stuck waiting for something to happen.” The theme reflects entire life experiences and encourages everyone to be hopeful and optimistic.
