Does Ateneo offer financial aid?

Yes. The Financial Aid Program continues to expand the support it offers students. Currently, a student may be extended Special or Flexible Payment Arrangements, Full or Partial Tuition and Fees Grants, or Book Allowances.

When is the deadline for the Regular Cycle Application for the First Semester, Academic Year 2024-2025?

The Financial Aid Committee has been accepting applications for grants (new and renewal) covering the First Semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025. The application form and all supporting documents are due on 29 June 2024, 5:00 PM. For current students, please note that you are no longer required to submit your grades from the latest semester. Your grades will still be considered, but the Financial Aid Committee will directly coordinate with the Registrar instead.

What is the Aid Upon Admission Grant?

The Aid Upon Admission Grant is a special grant for eligible incoming first year students. The grant typically includes full tuition and fees less the Confirmation Fee. Aid Upon Admission grantees must shoulder their Confirmation Fees.

What is the difference between the Aid Upon Admission and Regular Cycles?

The main differences between the two cycles are (1) the timing of the release of the decisions and (2) the persons eligible for each cycle. The AUA Cycle is open to all Ateneo Law Applicants, while the Regular Cycle is open to all Ateneo Law students who meet the eligibility criteria. The AUA Cycle's decisions are released decisions close to the date of confirmation of slots, while the Regular Cycle's decisions are released during the semester it is awarded. The award amount does not necessarily differ as this is determined by many other factors, particularly your proven need. 

Am I eligible for financial aid?

It depends. Financial Aid is granted depending on merit and financial need to current students carrying at least a full load.

In most successful cases, applicants substantiated their financial needs. Students should have obtained at least a GWA of 82 in the last semester without failing or dropping any subjects to be considered for a partial grant and an 85 to be considered for a full grant. They should also have an exemplary disciplinary record and preferably contribute to the community.

Are there any guarantees or conditions to a grant?

Yes. Financial Aid is awarded per semester. The renewal of the award depends on your continued actual (not speculative) need as well as the maintenance of a high scholastic and moral standard. 

You must also comply with our Code of Conduct. You should not be embroiled in any situation that would lead to your disqualification from sitting for the bar examinations or taking the Lawyer’s Oath. You should not be subject to any disciplinary actions, criminal litigation, or administrative investigation, or action outside the law school, etc. You should maintain at least the equivalent of a regular load and not voluntarily drop any course during the semester of the awarded grant.

For you to remain eligible for the renewal of the grant in the succeeding semester, you must continue to be a full-time student in, and remain in good standing with the School, fulfilling all academic requirements for this current semester, including but not limited to the following:

Do I have to advance the payment of my tuition and fees to be eligible for a grant?

If you are a current student, no. You may inform the Office of the Dean that you are awaiting the result of your application and request for an extension in the payment deadline.

If you were previously awarded a grant, you should be able to determine the probability of the award since you should know whether you have complied with the Conditions of Award.

How do I apply for a grant?

You must fill up the application form and comply with the documentary requirements.

My parents or guardians do not provide me with any financial support. Am I still required to provide their financial documents?

No, but you must explain the circumstances. In addition, you must provide the financial documents of anyone providing you with financial support. If you are financing your education, you must submit your financial documents.

The source of my financial support cannot provide an income tax return. Am I exempt from the requirement of financial documents?

No. If an income tax return is not available, you may provide any other document to support your disclosures such as certifications from an employer or sworn statements attesting to the details of employment including the exact annual income.

What is a Personal Statement?

A Personal Statement is an essay. The audience of your Personal Statement is the Financial Aid Committee. We encourage you to refer to reliable online resources as to the best practices in writing essays and personal statements.

Your Personal Statement should at least explain your financial circumstances and need. It may delve into your motivation for applying to Ateneo Law School and plans after graduating from law school.

The form will not accept my student email address. May I provide another email address?

If you are still a Prospective student, you must use the email address in your Admissions Application.

Current students are required to use their student email addresses.
