This FAQ consolidates key questions and clarifications from the Website Governance Policy Roadshows and related discussions. It aims to guide offices, departments, and units in complying with Ateneo’s web standards for branding, security, and sustainability.
Q1: Does the Website Governance Policy cover new websites only, or does it include existing ones?
A: It includes both new and existing websites. Once the six-month registration period starts, all existing websites must be registered. Moving forward, any new websites (for new projects or events) must also go through the registration process.
Q2: Are student-made websites part of the scope?
A: Not yet. Student websites, such as course projects or personal portfolios, are currently excluded. However, student-managed websites affiliated with offices or university activities (e.g., labs, orgs under OSA) must be registered since they represent Ateneo.
Q3: Are there plans to include student websites in the future?
A: Yes. The team is coordinating with various units to determine appropriate processes and policies for student-managed websites.
Q4: Will the policy cover affiliated websites?
A: Yes. Any website using Ateneo’s name, logo, or brand, or those managed or hosted by Ateneo (including partnerships or research projects), must also be registered.
Q5: When does the six-month registration period start and end?
A: The registration period starts after the release of the policy and official announcements—expected around November, and will run until approximately May. The official start will be announced via email and Blueboard.
Q6: If we registered our website in previous surveys or inventories, do we need to register again?
A: Yes, but they will receive a pre-filled form that they need to revalidate and resubmit
Q7: Do pages within the main university website (ateneo.edu) need to be registered?
A: No. Pages already under the main ateneo.edu domain are automatically registered. Only external or independent websites (e.g., on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, etc.) need to be registered.
Q8: Will the current access to our office or department remain the same after registration?
A: Yes. Existing website access will remain. For migrated sites (to ateneo.edu), access will be adjusted accordingly based on the new setup.
Q9: Who can assist with migrating our website to the main ateneo.edu site?
A: The Digital Information and Technology Services (DITS) and the University Marketing and Communications Office (UMCO) work together on website migrations.
For content migration, only UMCO handles the process. DITS provides technical assistance and access setup as needed.
👉 Refer to the Website User Guide / Migration Guide for details on CMS use, migration steps, and maintenance.
Q10: Will there be training and support available for offices migrating or managing their websites?
A: Yes. DITS conducts regular training sessions and can arrange special sessions per cluster. These cover CMS management, content updates, and Ateneo branding compliance.
Q11: Who should be assigned as a site administrator?
The site administrator is responsible for maintaining and updating the website.
The contact person is the main coordinator for DITS communications (security, branding, updates).

While an IT background is helpful, a communications-oriented person familiar with coordination and online platforms works best.
Q12: Will Google Sites be re-enabled?
A: Only on a case-by-case basis.
If your office or unit needs site admin access or the ability to create a Google Site for official work, please email IT Support for assessment.
This restriction applies not to the websites themselves, but to the creation and administration of Google Sites, mainly for security reasons. Certain school-related projects and offices may be granted access.
Q13: How will websites be evaluated for branding and security compliance?
 A:
Branding:
Must comply with Ateneo’s official Brand Standards.
Official Ateneo fonts can be downloaded from go.ateneo.edu/fonts.
Use of logos and colors should follow the brand identity guidelines.
Security:
DITS may assess sites for vulnerabilities.
Sites with forms or transactions may undergo Vulnerability and Penetration Testing (VAPT) for data protection and integrity.
Q14: Why is website registration required?
 A:
To ensure all Ateneo-affiliated websites are:
Compliant with Ateneo’s brand identity
Secure and free from vulnerabilities
Properly managed with clear accountability and regular updates
