The textile industry is one of the most dynamic and impactful sectors worldwide, but it also faces serious environmental and social challenges. This eTwinning project, developed in collaboration between Ategorri BHI (Bilbao, Basque Country) and Max Schmeling Stadtteilschule (Hamburg, Germany), aims to analyze the textile industry from the circular economy approach and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.Through this project, we explore how the circular economy can offer solutions to reduce textile waste, prolong the life span of products and optimize the use of resources. Students will investigate the life cycle of textiles and analyze key aspects such as material recycling, sustainable redesign and labor conditions in the production chain. This will provide a comprehensive understanding of the textile industry, considering both its environmental impact and its social dimension. In this context, we will address key issues of the 2030 Agenda, such as responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), decent work (SDG 8) and climate action (SDG 13). Through research activities, design of recycled products and creation of awareness campaigns, students will develop practical proposals to promote responsible consumption that respects the environment and workers' rights.
Ehungintza munduko sektorerik dinamiko eta zirraragarrienetako bat da, baina ingurumen- eta gizarte-erronka handiak ere baditu. eTwinning proiektu hau Ategorri BHIren (Bilbo, Euskal Herria) eta Max Schmeling Stadtteilschule-ren -Hanburgo, Alemania- artean garatu da, eta ehungintzaren industria ekonomia zirkularraren ikuspegitik aztertzea du helburu, 2030 Agendaren Garapen Iraunkorreko Helburuekin (GJH) bat etorriz. Proiektu honen bidez, ekonomia zirkularrak ehun-hondakinak murrizteko, produktuen bizitza erabilgarria zabaltzeko eta baliabideen erabilera optimizatzeko irtenbideak nola eskain ditzakeen aztertuko dugu. Ikasleek ehunen bizi-zikloa ikertuko dute eta funtsezko alderdiak aztertuko dituzte, hala nola materialen birziklatzea, birdiseinu iraunkorra eta produkzio-kateko lan-baldintzak. Horrek ehungintzaren ulermen integrala ematen du, haren ingurumen-inpaktua eta dimentsio soziala kontuan hartuta.
Testuinguru horretan, 2030 Agendako funtsezko gaiak jorratuko ditugu, hala nola kontsumo eta ekoizpen arduratsua (12. GJH), lan txukuna eta hazkunde ekonomikoa (8. GJH) eta klimaren aldeko ekintza (13. GJH). Ikerketa-jardueren, birziklatutako produktuen diseinuaren eta sentsibilizazio-kanpainen bidez, ikasleek ingurumena eta langileen eskubideak errespetatuko dituen kontsumo arduratsua sustatzeko proposamen praktikoak garatuko dituzte. Proiektu honen helburua da gure ikasleak aldaketarako eragile bihurtzea, ehungintzaren ikuspegi kritiko eta iraunkorra sustatuz, ekonomia zirkularraren printzipioekin eta 2030 Agendaren konpromisoekin bat etor dadin.

March 2025. As part of the project, we carried out a research activity in which each student examined the labels of the clothes in their wardrobe to find out where they came from. Using this information, we collaboratively created a world map showing three key aspects of each garment: the country where it was designed, the country where it was manufactured, and the country where it is currently worn (in this case, by the student. This activity helped us visualize how the global textile production chain works and reflect on the long journey a single item of clothing takes before it reaches us. In addition, we chose one of the countries with the highest volume of textile production —Cambodia— and analyzed the working conditions of garment workers there. We then compared these conditions with the labor regulations in Spain, which led to a broader discussion about labor rights, social justice, and the consumer’s responsibility in the face of fast fashion.
February 2025. As part of our eTwinning project, we have carried out an analysis of the concept of Fast Fashion, exploring its social, economic, and environmental impact. We shared this study with our partners from the German school in Hamburg, who complemented the work by analyzing the sustainable alternatives available in their city. Each school, both ours and the German one, shared their research and reflections through a collaborative Padlet, where we also gave each other feedback. Through this exchange, we discovered local initiatives in Hamburg such as second-hand shops, ethically conscious brands, and clothing swap events, which allowed us to reflect on possible ways to adopt more responsible consumption habits in our own communities. The entire joint project can be viewed on the Padlet created specifically for this collaboration.
2025eko otsaila. Gure eTwinning proiektuaren barruan, Fast Fashion kontzeptua aztertu dugu, eta gizartean, ekonomian eta ingurumenean duen eragina aztertu dugu. Ikerketa hau Hanburgoko ikastetxe alemaniarreko gure ikaskideekin partekatu genuen, eta haiek beren hirian dauden alternatiba jasangarriak aztertuz osatu zuten lana. Eskola bakoitzak, gureak zein alemanak, bere ikerketa eta gogoetak partekatu zituen Padlet kolaboratibo baten bidez, non elkar elikatzen dugun. Truke horren bidez, Hanburgon tokiko ekimenak aurkitu genituen, hala nola bigarren eskuko dendak, kontzientzia etikoa duten markak eta arropa trukatzeko ekitaldiak. Horiei esker, gure komunitateetan kontsumo-ohitura arduratsuagoak hartzeko moduei buruz hausnartu ahal izan genuen. Baterako proiektu osoa lankidetza honetarako berariaz sortutako padletean kontsulta daiteke.
January 2025. As part of the Etwinning project ‘I buy therefore I am’, our students took part in a clothes recycling workshop, organised by the collective ‘truca rec’. During the workshop they have been able to see, through practice, the possibility of giving a second life to used clothes. To do this, they have put their creativity into play, to design and make bags with fabrics obtained from recycled clothes.
2025eko urtarrila. Etwinning "I buy therefore I am" proiektuko jardueren barruan, gure ikasleek arropa birziklatzeko tailer batean parte hartu dute, "truca rec" kolektiboaren eskutik. Tailerrean, praktikaren bidez, erabilitako arropari bigarren bizitza bat emateko aukera egiaztatu ahal izan dute. Horretarako, sormena jarri dute jokoan, birziklatutako arropatik lortutako oihalekin poltsak diseinatu eta egiteko.
January 2025. We held a video call to get to know each other and talk about the fashion we usually wear. During the call, we shared where we normally buy our clothes, what kind of clothes we like, and our general shopping habits. It was a fun and interesting conversation that allowed us to compare our lifestyles and think about the impact of our fashion choices. The exchange helped us understand cultural similarities and differences, and it brought a more personal and interactive dimension to the project.
2025eko urtarrila. Bideo-dei bat egiten dugu elkar ezagutzeko eta eraman ohi dugun modaz hitz egiteko. Deian, partekatu egiten dugu non erosten dugun normalean gure arropa, zer motatako jantziak gustatzen zaizkigun eta gure erosteko ohitura orokorrak. Elkarrizketa dibertigarria eta interesgarria izan zen, eta gure bizimoduak alderatu eta modako hautuen eraginari buruz hausnartzeko aukera eman zigun. Trukeak antzekotasun eta desberdintasun kulturalak ulertzen lagundu zigun, eta dimentsio pertsonalagoa eta interaktiboagoa eman zion proiektuari.
November 2025. We have begun our project with a simple introductory activity designed to help our students get to know each other. For this purpose, we have created a collaborative Padlet that connects the two participating schools. In this space, each student will upload a short personal introduction, and their peers will have the opportunity to comment on these presentations. This activity aims to encourage interaction and foster the creation of a collaborative and trusting environment among all project participants.
2025eko azaroa. Gure ikasleei elkar ezagutzen laguntzeko diseinatutako sarrera-jarduera erraz batekin hasi dugu gure proiektua. Horretarako, bi eskola parte-hartzaileak lotzen dituen Padlet kolaboratibo bat sortu dugu. Gune horretan, ikasle bakoitzak aurkezpen pertsonal labur bat egingo du, eta ikaskideek aurkezpen horiek komentatzeko aukera izango dute. Jarduera honek elkarrekintza sustatu nahi du, eta proiektuan parte hartzen duten guztien artean lankidetzarako eta konfiantzarako ingurune bat sortzen lagundu.
October 2024. This year we are taking up the ‘I buy, therefore I am’ project with renewed energy and new ideas. Here is a photo of the group of Ategorri students who will be participating in the project this year.
2024.ko urria. Ikasturte honetan "I buy, therefore I am" proiektuari ekingo diogu berriro, energia berrituarekin eta ideia freskoekin. Hemen duzue aurten proiektuan parte hartzen ariko den Ategorriko ikasle taldearen argazkia.
October 2023. Last week, we received a visit from a group of students from Max Schmeling Stadtteilschule High School in Hamburg in connection with the Etwinning project "I buy, therefore I am". The purpose of this project is to work both socially and environmentally on the consumption of clothing and its effects, and to this end, during the past year, we carried out a number of online activities with students from this German school on this subject. Last week we finally got to know each other, and got the opportunity to work face to face. In addition to the activities related to the project (discussions, presentations, poster productions, visits to the Intermon Oxfam store...), there was also some great leisure time (visiting the Guggenheim museum, surfing and others).

Erasmus + martxan! Joan den astean, Hanburgoko Max Schmeling Stadtteilschule institutuko ikasle talde baten bisita jaso genuen, "I buy, therefore I am" Etwinning proiektuarekin lotuta. Proiektu honen helburua arroparen kontsumoa eta honek dakartzan eraginak gizartean zein ingurumenean lantzea da, eta horretarako, aurreko ikasturtean zehar, Alemaniako ikastetxe honetako ikasleekin batera online hainbat jarduera burutu genituen gai horren inguruan. Joan den astean elkar ezagutzeko aukera izan genuen azkenik, eta aurrez aurre lan egin ahal izan genuen. Proiektuari lotutako jarduerez gain (eztabaidak, aurkezpenak, kartel ekoizpenak, Intermon Oxfameko dendari bisita...), aisialdirako denbora ere egon zen.
May 2023. In the last few months we have carried out several activities around fashion and consumerism. The last one consisted of a research on the offshoring of the textile industry and its impacts. The results of this research were translated into paddlets made by the Basque and German students. These paddlets were shared visually and the students exchanged their opinions and conclusions in writing. Today, to close the project for this course, we have organized some videoconferences, where students from both countries have been able to exchange opinions and reach common conclusions. a very enriching and interesting exchange, no doubt!

Azken hilabeteetan hainbat jarduera egin ditugu modaren eta kontsumismoaren inguruan. Azkena ehungintzaren deslokalizazioari eta haren inpaktuei buruzko ikerketa bat izan da. Ikerketa honen emaitzak Euskal Herriko eta Alemaniako ikasleek egindako paddlet-etan islatu dira. Emaitzak partekatu eta ikasleek beren iritziak eta ondorioak trukatu dituzte idatziz. Gaur, ikasturte honetarako proiektua ixteko, bideokonferentzia batzuk antolatu ditugu, non bi herrialdeetako ikasleek iritziak trukatu eta erabaki komunak hartu ahal izan dituzten.
CLOTHES RECICLING WORKSHOP / ARROPA BIRZIKLAPEN TAILERRA
March 2023. Within the project "I buy, therefore I am" students from Hamburg and Erandio, have carried out different activities of research, analysis and debate on the textile industry, our consumption model and its impacts. One of the problems addressed has been the generation of waste, as a result of our high consumption and waste of clothing. Different alternatives to face these situations have been proposed and discussed. One of them has been the reuse and recycling of clothes. Taking this idea as a starting point, we decided to organise a clothes recycling workshop, in which our students were able to use old clothes to transform them into bags.
February 2023. Both German and Spanish students carried out various activities to understand, reflect and position themselves in relation to the so-called CONSUMER SOCIETY, to which we belong. Among these activities we can highlight the reading of texts, answering questionnaires, participating in debates or elaborating mind maps around the concept of the consumer society.
To round off these activities, we organised virtual meetings between students from both countries. these meetings were held via videoconference, where students tried to reach common conclusions about the scope of consumer society in our daily lives and its implications for society, both locally and globally. It is certainly an experience to be repeated, although as an aspect to be improved, next time we need to plan longer meetings for a more in-depth discussion.

Bai Alemaniako eta bai Erandioko ikasleek hainbat jarduera egin dituzte KONTSUMO GIZARTEA delakoaren inguruan hausnartzeko eta posizionatzeko. Jarduera horien artean, testuen irakurketa, galdetegiei erantzutea, eztabaidetan parte hartzea edo kontsumo-gizartearen kontzeptuaren inguruko gogo-mapak egitea azpimarra ditzakegu.
Jarduera horiek biribiltzeko, topaketa birtualak antolatu genituen bi herrialdeetako ikasleen artean. Bilera horiek bideokonferentzia bidez egin ziren, eta ikasleek ondorio komunak atera zituzten kontsumo-gizarteak gure eguneroko bizitzan duen irismenari buruz eta horrek gizartean dituen inplikazioei buruz, bai tokian-tokian, bai mundu mailan. Zalantzarik gabe, errepikatu beharreko esperientzia da, baina hobetu beharreko alderdi gisa, hurrengoan bilera luzeagoak planifikatu behar ditugu eztabaida sakonago baterako.
The fashion and apparel industry, while providing us with clothing and accessories that allow us to express our individuality and style, also has a significant impact on the environment, human rights, and society at large. In order to anayse those impacts, we decided to carry out an common activity in wich students from Erandio and Hamburg would create a paddlet visualising the unequal distribution of production, profits, consumption and design of clothing in the world.
In this assesment, students will take a closer look at the various implications and challenges arising from this industry. Through a Padlet we wanted to capture the research done, which consists of analyzing the origin of the textile companies most in demand by our students (such as Zara, Bershka or Stradivarious, in the case of the basque students). We have been able to see in which countries they make their production and have captured the results on a mural. In the same way we have analyzed the consequences generated by relocation in the countries that host these companies for their production and explained them in a paddlet. You can consult the paddlets made by basque and german students in the following links:
https://padlet.com/mlaura_alvarez/follow-your-clothes-heldszdjd46895ow (Password: erasmus+)
This research and analysis work has been made in both countries, and we intend to meet virtually to share conlcusions and think of possible alternatives to this consumption model and its negative impacts.

Modaren eta janzkeraren industriak, gure izaera eta estiloa adierazteko jantziak baliabidea izateaz gain, eragin nabarmena du ingurumenean, giza eskubideetan eta gizartean, oro har. Inpaktu horiek uxatzeko, Erandioko eta Hanburgoko ikasleekin ohiko jarduera bat egitea erabaki dugu: Paddlet bat sortu, munduan produkzioaren, irabazien, kontsumoaren eta jantzien diseinuaren banaketa desberdina ikusteko.
Jarduera honetan, ikasleek industria honek dakartzan inplikazio eta erronkak hurbilagotik aztertu dituzte. Padlet baten bidez, egindako ikerketa jaso nahi izan dugu, hau da, ikasleek gehien kontsumitzen dituzten ehungintza enpresen jatorria aztertzea (Zara, Bershka edo Stadivarious, esaterako, euskal ikasleen kasuan). Ikusi ahal izan dugu zein herrialdetan egiten duten ekoizpena eta emaitzak horma-irudi batean jaso ditugu. Era berean, deslokalizazioak ekoizpena burutzen den herrialdeetan sortzen dituen ondorioak aztertu ditugu eta paddlet batean azaldu ditugu. Euskal Herriko eta Alemaniako ikasleek egindako paddlet-ak esteka hauetan kontsulta ditzakezu:

November 2022. To introduce ourselves, we decided to do an activity in wich the students would describe theirselves and reflect on their clothing consumption habits and their relationship with fashion. With that purpose they created videos and infographies. In the following pictures you can see the students from Erandio taking a look to the Infographies made by German students.
Gure burua aurkezteko, hurrengo jarduera hau antolatu genuen: Ikasleek euren burua deskribatu eta arropa kontsumitzeko ohiturez eta modarekin duten harremanaz hausnarketa egin. Horretarako sortu zituzten bideoak eta infografiak. Hurrengo argazkietan Erandioko ikasleak ikus daitezke Alemaniako ikasleek egindako infografiei begira.
