To determine your math placement you will need to take the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment, we encourage students to complete this prior to orientation. If you cannot, please connect with your advisor to support enrolling in a full schedule.
You have a total of three attempts on the ALEKS and we will use your highest score to determine your math placement.
If you score a 75 or below on the ALEKS, you can find recommended next steps HERE.
All students start in ENG 101 by default. However, there are a few exceptions:
For International students whom English is not their native language, it is recommended to take the ENG 107 and ENG 108 sequence which will fulfill your English Composition Requirement.
Some students may qualify for ENG 105, a combined course that covers the content of both ENG 101 and ENG 102, allowing students to meet both requirements with one class. The placement test requirements for ENG 105 are listed below.
If you have Dual Enrollment or Exam scores (i.e. AP, IB, CLEP, etc.), these are NOT automatically sent to ASU, so you will need to have your College transcripts/ exam scores sent to ASU Admissions. (High School Transcripts do not carry college credit!)
For Dual Enrollment, you must send an official transcript from all College/Universities attended as high school transcripts cannot be used to award college credit. Make sure these are sent to ASU Admissions.
To request AP Scores be sent to ASU, please visit the CollegeBoard website.
For other Exams, you can find information on how to request scores to be sent to ASU by going here HERE.
If you have Dual Enrollment courses still in progress or have not yet taken scheduled Exams, please know you will need to send updated Transcripts and Exams Scores to ASU Admissions as soon as the courses or exams are completed.
To ensure your Academic Advisor provides an accurate schedule during your Orientation, please send all unofficial College transcripts and/or a copy of all exam scores to your SEMTE academic advisor.
