Confirm that You're Covered:
Go to "My ASU" and click on the Finances tab. If you see "ASU Uber Scholarship" and "uber Scholarship Program," under your yearly "Financial Aid and Scholarships," it means that your tuition is covered for that specific semester.
See What You Can Do Next:
Go to the Uber Driver app and look at the current time period so you can figure out how much time you have left for reaching Gold again within that given timeframe. You can also use the landing page of this Roadmap to guide you for the next three months.
ASU offers a "Student Crisis Fund" for full-time students experiencing economic challenges and struggling in meeting basic needs. Students can apply to be considered for up to $500 USD in assistance relief (you don't have to pay it back). One student shared using this resource to pay for a car rental so he could continue driving for Uber after experiencing a car accident and completely loosing his car. You can use this benefit once per academic year.
You can also visit the Dean of Students website to connect with an advocacy coordinator. They can further guide you in navigating complex situations.
You can call the Success Coach Center at 844 691 2240
Yes, both Uber and ASU send you separate e-mails with steps on how to apply to participate in the graduation ceremony for Uber grads. Arizona State University communicates via your student e-mail, while Uber communicates using your personal e-mail (associated with your driving account). Make sure you've applied for graduation in time (to avoid fees, which Uber won't pay for) to receive official communication.
Uber gives out gift boxes to graduates during May graduation season. Some students have shared receiving gift items before graduation to the mailing address they have on file with ASU. So, you might still get something even if you can't attend the in-person ceremony. Success coaches sometimes also send you gifts.
Call Financial Aid (corporate team subdivision) at 480.965.3200 and communicate that you have met all the criteria for the Uber tuition reimbursement program.
You may have to resubmit an "RFI" (Request For Information) form, the same you used to apply for the program, which can also be used to reinstate benefits. You can access the form on the official ASU/Uber partnership website.
On the ASU side, reach out to financial aid to make sure you are in good academic standing.
On the Uber side, nothing will happen. Consider that Uber only covers 135 credits out of the 120 needed for a four-year degree when retaking courses.
Uber will cover up to 135 credits, but you only need 120 for a four-year degree. If you don't use all your credits, they can be transferred to one qualifiable dependent.
Some students have transferred credits over to ASU from other colleges, so they use less Uber reimbursements.
It does not matter how many credits you take per session or semester, Uber will cover it.
Graduate degrees (Master's) are not covered.
Unfortunately, not right now.
However, it has been officialized in previous years (a page was created on "Sun Devil Sync" to promote the Facebook group). To access the Sun Devil Sync, click on the "clubs & orgs" tab that appears on top of your "My ASU" site.
To formalize Uber Scholars as a club, you must start the process at the "Sun Devil Central," ASU's new platform for clubs and organizations. Keep in mind that you will need officers, so reach out to other current Uber drivers/students.
For more information regarding clubs and orgs, you can reach out to Hannah Stirewalt (Student Engagement Coordinator Sr. @EdPlus) via email: hstirewa@asu.edu
If you accept student loans, they will be applied after Uber covers 100% of the tuition, which means that you will receive the loan amount as reimbursement back to your account.
Uber won't cover credits for studying abroad.
