Turbulence plays critical roles in various applications of mechanical and aerospace engineering, including turbomachinery and high-speed aerodynamics. In next-generation turbulence research, more multiphysics with increasing complexities need to be combined, and their interactions with turbulence should be understood and modeled. High-fidelity simulation such as large-eddy simulation (LES) offers accurate and efficient tools to tackle such complex problems beyond a level that the traditional prediction tools have achieved, as well as to put an important milestone for prediction-based design and optimization of realistic flow systems. Our group is working on pioneering novel high-fidelity simulation, analysis, modeling, and control technology to address those challenges.
