I have concluded my cycle 2 (phase four) of action research and begun my dissertation (cycle 3, phase five) of research. Previous cycle of my action research have been consolidated in my page for the 2017 Arizona State University Doctoral Research Conference for the students of the Leadership and Innovation program of study. This innovative new conference structure allowed for over 130 doctoral students to participant in a virtual meeting setting all day on Saturday, April 22, 2017. You can view my presentation materials and an overview on the the on the previous cycles page. Each subsequent DRC will become my posting forum to consolidate actions taken, problem of practice addressed, and findings from my previous cycles of research. This page is now open to the public.
The cycle 2 (phase four) findings have been published on this website and shared with participants. In this qualitative cycle, I continued to narrow my problem of practice and topics. In my cycle 2 of action research I was pleased to have the wonderful opportunity to work with Mirka Koro-Ljungberg, Ph.D. as my PI. Dr. Koro-Ljungberg has been instrumental is examining my thinking on philosophy and qualitative research models.
I recently completed a literature overview page. With over 120 sources in the full review, this overview is intended as a quick background and frame of reference. The purpose of the literature overview is to provide study participants with some of the findings on the topic of student preparation levels and post-secondary environmental factors. The reference section for my full review of the literature is posted now and will be updated throughout the study.
Finally, the dissertation panel has formed and chapters 1 and 2 have been developed. I would like to thank Craig Mertler, Ph.D. for his outstanding support and guidance as my chair. Dr. Mertler's knowledge and passion for action research are matched by his expertise on methodology and scholarly writing. We welcome Michelle Jordan, Ph.D., to the committee as an expert on system theory. Dr. Jordan was instrumental in expanding my knowledge on system theory and was the PI on my cycle 0-1. We are pleased to announce the addition of R. Vernon Moore Ed.D., as the third committee member based upon his equity work and scholarship on systems complexity. Dr. Moore is a well respected scholarly practitioner with over 20 years of professional contributions to P/K-12 educational systems.
