Shawn T. Loescher,Ed.D., has over 25 years of professional experience. He began his career as an educator as a teacher’s aide at the age of 17—a path that led to P/K-12 teaching, professorship, administrative work, and cabinet level school district leadership in a diverse group of settings, schools, and education systems domestically and abroad. He has been a presenter to the California Senate Education Committee on the topic of career readiness and post-secondary preparedness. Dr. Loescher has presented to the California Senate Education Committee, has served as a member of national think tanks, and is a sought-after consultant, speaker, and guest lecturer. He specializes in the topics of organizational and community development, philosophy, educational redesign, systems theory, and design thinking.
In 2019, the internationally renowned TED (Technology – Entertainment – Design) organization named Dr. Loescher as one of their 16 worldwide choices for the TED-Ed Innovative Educators. Dr. Loescher has been a sought after keynote speaker on innovation and research including at the Center for Secondary School Redesign 2019 and the Arizona State University Doctoral Research Conference of 2020. In addition, in 2019 he was honored by the University of California at San Diego as a featured scholar in their Design@Large series where he present on design thinking for organizational and community development. Dr. Loescher research has recieved interanational recognition including for the three year action research process chronicled on this website which was awareded the American Education Research Association Action Research Dissertation of the year for 2020.
Dr. Loescher earned his Ed.D. in Leadership from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. His dissertation work was focused on the implementation of systems innovations to advance college and career readiness, fostering levels of student hope levels, and breaking down institutional structures that may limit student potential. Dr. Loescher also holds a Masters in Education Administration, supervisory and teaching certifications, and a Bachelor’s degree. He is an active scholar and practitioner that currently servers as the Chief Executive Officer of a inner city charter school system grades T/K-12 that is founded on the Stanford d.school and IDEO concepts of Design Thinking.
