A key part of understanding water as a resource is understanding how water can be contaminated and then how it can be purified. Through this module, students will gain an understanding of how water becomes dirty and then will explore the various methods used to clean the water both in the local community as well as in other places across the globe.

The document to the right includes the teacher instructional guide for this module. The guide includes an overview of the module as well as a list of the Next Generation and Arizona Science and Reading Standards that are included. The guide also includes a recommended procedure for using the other materials included in the module. It is not required that the exact procedure be followed. The module may adapted based on time and classroom constraints.
The Powerpoint slideshow on the right may be used in class to present the material of the module. The lecture slides have been set up to follow the Teacher's Instructional Guide but may be altered as the teacher sees fit.
