The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the concept of water as a natural resource. Water is scarce resource and students often don’t realize how much water is used in their everyday life through both direct and indirect uses. Students will learn where water is used in their daily lives as well as problems associated with water both locally and globally.

Student Learning Objectives
- Student develops understanding of water footprint as well how they use water in the daily lives through both direct and indirect uses
- Student understands multiple water use reduction mechanisms
- Student draws conclusions about water use then and now and how this possibly attributes to possible water problems
- Students are able to analyze various case studies highlighting current water problems both locally and globally and ultimately understand who is most affected by water disasters.

Teacher's Instructional Guide
The document to the right is an instructional guide for Module 1. The guide includes an overview of the module as well as a list of the Next Generation and Arizona Science and Reading Standards that are addressed in this portion of the curriculum. The guide also includes a recommended procedure for using the module. It is not required that the exact procedure be followed. The module may be adapted based on time and classroom constraints.
