Q: Am I supposed to collaborate with other students in class as I develop my venture and Evidence Based Pitch Deck?
A: See the "Course Participants + Structure" section (or similar section title) in the course syllabus.
Q:Are we allowed to use stock photos in place of actual photos of the real-life individuals we want to include in our assignment submissions? I haven't explicitly asked some of these individuals if I can use their photos in my assignment submissions, so I have been just putting in stock photos for the time being. Is this okay?
A: Yes, as we describe in the assignment explanation videos, you may use “pseudonym photos” (aka, stock photos) in place of REAL people. As you’re presenting, just make sure that the audience knows that the “pseudonym photos” (aka, stock photos) are being used in place of REAL people.

Q:May I use artificial intelligence (AI) images within my evidence-based pitch deck?
A: Yes, AI images are acceptable, especially in the draft phases. Although, when using AI images, be respectful of your audience – the people you are asking to support your venture (in this case, your classmates and instructor(s), but in the future, perhaps your employer or an investor). Will your audience be impressed with the AI images? Or will they think you just took a shortcut, as opposed to designing the graphics yourself or going through the effort to locate and use higher quality stock photos or graphics?
Q:May I use artificial intelligence (AI) to develop my evidence-based pitch deck?
A: In this course, you are encouraged to explore innovative ideas and develop detailed problem and solution illustrations for your venture projects. While you may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools as a resource, the final work must clearly reflect your own independent thought and unique analysis. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
Use of AI as a Tool, Not a Substitute: You may use AI to generate ideas, create visuals, or assist with research; however, your submissions must demonstrate your personal understanding and interpretation. AI-generated content should be used only as a supplement to your own work.
Clear Attribution: If you use AI-generated content or assistance, please provide a brief note indicating which parts of your work were aided by AI. This ensures transparency and maintains academic integrity.
Customization and Originality: Your venture project must include specific examples, tailored solution illustrations, and customer/stakeholder scenarios that are unique to your idea. Generic AI outputs that do not clearly connect to your project objectives will not meet the course requirements.
Critical Analysis and Independent Thought: The primary focus of your assignments is to demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to independently conceptualize, analyze, and solve problems. AI should not replace the analytical process required to understand and articulate your venture’s unique value proposition.
Evaluation: Assignments will be assessed based on the clarity, originality, and specificity of your work. AI-generated elements that do not clearly support these criteria may result in a lower evaluation score.
Q:Can I make changes to my pitch deck in preparation for the next version due-date before my prior version is graded?
A: Yes! We're glad to hear you’re iterating fluidly! That’s how it goes in the real world. As for grading, we mostly focus on the logistical details of your V1-2 submissions (e.g., on time, accessibility, length, etc.). In terms of content, we spend most of our time helping students who are not submitting or struggling, as reported by their peers within the peer review and feedback assignments. Also, if needed, we can compare the deck version in the video with your dynamic deck file. We will take a close look at everyone’s V3 submission, so keep evolving yours up until you record your final V3 video presentation.
Q:How critical is it to finish my V1-3 presentations at exactly the 5:00 minute mark?
A: Just like in the real world, it is acceptable if your presentation is not EXACTLY five minutes. Ending within the 4:30 - 5:30 minute range is perfectly acceptable. If you fall outside of that range, keep practicing before you record the presentation version you submit for grading and peer review.
Q:May I add "Co-Founder of X Venture" to my LinkedIn profile or resume with links to my V3 pitch deck and video presentation?
A: Yes! Many students have reported that this new LinkedIn profile accomplishment has been the sole focus of subsequent job interviews and that they got the job!
