Student Etiquette
When sending an email to your advisor, please do not include all advisors and/or the eceegrad@asu.edu or ecee@asu.edu email addresses. This does not expediate your request, and in fact, creates more work to process and respond to your email. PLEASE send your email directly to your academic advisor.
After sending your email to your advisor, plan on up to 3 business days (Monday - Friday) for a response, especially during the busy times of the academic year. If you have not received a response after the 3 business days, then follow up with the academic advising supervisor.
Your academic advisor's information is listed on your MyASU portal (if you forgot - refer back to the section "What is the MyASU portal?")
ASU is a global community with people from all areas of the world here to be a student or in a position of supporting students. Where you come from and the culture you grew up in may be far different than your experiences here. ASU supports people from all walks of life, all different cultures, races, ethnicities, genders, gender identities are a few of the many things that make us unique. As a new student to ASU, it is important to point out that the interaction to fellow students, your professors, and all support staff is expected to be kind and respectful. Basically, treat others as you expect to be treated.
For additional information on this subject, check out Student Code of Conduct.
"If I don't get the answer that I like, I'll find someone else!" This is not an uncommon issue that we see in graduate advising. Each student has an assigned academic advisor. This is the only individual you should be going to with your questions, as your advisor is here to help you navigate the program requirements. If you choose to "answer shop", you will be redirected back to your advisor, as all advisors communicate with each other.
As an academic unit, we are here to assist you in your academic journey. To help you get in contact with us, please the resources below:
