Teaching Assistantship or Research Assistantship
A teaching assistant (TA) provides general assistance to the faculty they are working with. A teaching assistant may lecture, lead discussion groups, serve as an assistant to laboratory classes and possibly tutor students.
A research assistant (RA) assists the faculty member they are working with on research. Funding for this position is provided from the faculty member's research grants, and positions are found through direct relationships with faculty.
If this is something that is of interest to you, we recommend that you connect with a professor who shares that same area of interest as you. We have had students who attempt to "spam" or send emails to multiple faculty in hopes of receiving a response, and we can assure you that this is the worst way to try to connect with our faculty. Again, it is important to do your homework and search for faculty in the area of specialization and area of interest as yourself, and to then reach out to them individually.
Here is a list of our faculty by program and area of specialization:

Internships are an academic experience for our international students to obtain field experience while being a student. This experience benefits our students as many get the opportunity to work for cutting edge companies who are leading the way in research and development. These companies may operate not only in the United States, but globally as well.
If an experience like this interests you, we recommend that you make contact with Fulton Schools of Engineering Career Center. This office can assist you with your internship exploration by providing tips for making contact with companies, looking over your resume and cover letter, and ask about a mock interview.
It is not uncommon for our students to receive multiple internship offers. We strongly recommend that you take your time to consider each offer before accepting. Once you have obtained an internship offer, your next step is to review the Curricular Practical Training (CPT)/internship information from your program's website. On the CPT/internship website, you will find the online CPT/internship application form. You will need to complete the form in its entirety before submitting.
