The sequence to POR 201 or POR 321, this course is also great for heritage speakers of Portuguese or those who have lived some time in Brazil and already speak some of the language, such as returned missionaries.
POR 313 focuses on listening and speaking skills, advancing students' vocabulary and grammar while developing more advanced skills such as solving a situation with a complication (e.g. how do you handle a lost connection at an airport or declining to eat something at a friend's party without offending them?), and following current news. You also learn about Brazilian society and culture in order to be able to participate meaningfully in conversations beyond simple day-to-day exchanges.
Would you like to practice your Portuguese with a college student from Brazil? This is the perfect course for it! During the course of the semester you will be paired up with a Brazilian student from São Paulo, who is learning English. You will meet via Skype in the classroom once a week for eight weeks to practice your Portuguese and their English!
Pre-requesite for the course is either POR 202 or POR 321. You can also contact us for a placement test, like many students who take this course do!

Like POR 313, this course is also great for heritage speakers of Portuguese or those who have lived some time in Brazil and already speak some of the language, such as returned missionaries. This course can be taken after POR 202 or POR 321, which are the pre-requisites for it.
POR 314 focuses on reading and writing, advancing students' vocabulary and grammar by developing more advanced skills such as writing your resumé or preparing for a job interview. You also keep up with current events in Brazilian society by reading news and learning about the culture in order to be able to participate more meaningfully in conversations beyond simple day-to-day exchanges.
Would you like to practice your Portuguese with a college student from Brazil? Like POR 313, POR 314 also offers that opportunity! During the course of the semester you will be paired up with a Brazilian student from São Paulo, who is learning English.
