The Arizona State Club Golf team is a co-ed, highly competitive, school-sanctioned sport club that competes in NCCGA tournaments throughout the year.
Any student attending Arizona State is eligible to compete for the team.
Each year the club hosts tryouts in August. The tryout is contested as a 36-hole stroke play competition, with the top players being offered a spot on the team. The number of spots available is determined based on number of exempt players from the previous academic year. The expected cut-line can range between +5 and +20 for 36 holes.
Players who previously have played on the club will be required to re-tryout unless they meet certain exemption criteria. This creates more opportunities for incoming golfers.
Exemption Criteria:
THREE or more NCCGA tournament rounds under par in previous academic year
All-tournament team in any NCCGA tournament in previous academic year
Top 30 at the National Championship
Assume the role of President, Vice President, or 3rd Rank Officer for 2025-26 season
Obtain an averge of 75.0 or less for regional tournaments in previous academic year (must play in at least 8 rounds)
Players Exempt from Fall 2025 Tryouts:
Abby Schmidt (3) (4)
Rúa Kimotho (2) (5)
Ryan Brophy (2)
Rohan Kshatriya (2)
Jando Hernandez (3) (5)
Ben Harbourne (4)
Ishaan Sandhu (4)
Andrew Zieg (2)

On weekends where tournaments are not being held, players on the club will play qualifying rounds to determine their placement on the team. Players are expected not to miss these qualifiers. If they do, they will be penalized.
In competition, players are divided into teams of eight. The top 8 players will form the "A" team, the next 8 will form the "B" team, and so on. For each round of tournament play, the top 5 scores on each team count towards the team total. Players may be moved to different teams throughout the season.
Each semester, ASU Club Golf competes in three regional events. These events take place in Tucson, Phoenix, Northern AZ, or Las Vegas. The Desert Region is home to one of the most competitive regions in the country. Playing well in the regional events can earn the club a National Championship invite.
At the end of each semester, the best teams in the nation are invited to compete in the National Championship. These tournaments have brought us to places like Las Vegas, Indiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. The nationals trip is always an unforgettable experience. The Fall 2024 National Championship will be held at Pinehurst in North Carolina (Host of the 2024 US Open).
