Healthy lifestyle behaviors, like fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and having a healthy weight, protect against many chronic conditions, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and strokes. Unfortunately, most individuals struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This impacts their family and work lives, including their short and long-term health, their productivity, and the health care they can access. The Metabolic Health Translational Team seeks to develop and test research-based solutions that could reduce risk of chronic conditions and improve the health of Arizonans.
Ongoing projects include:
Workplace interventions to reduce sitting and increase physical activity to prevent metabolic disease;
Needs assessments in collaboration with community partners to identify optimal diabetes prevention programs;
Quality improvement projects with clinical partners.
Our team includes university, community, healthcare providers, and industry experts to create design innovative research and implement new programs that could have a long-term impact on health and quality of life. The team welcomes new members that seek to address innovative and translational programs in metabolic health.
