An Interactive and Multimedia Experience
This website is an online replica of an interactive, multimedia exhibition on bicycling in a city dominated by cars. Originally presented in February 2024 at the Walton Center for Planetary Health of Arizona State University, the exhibition draws on data collected in Tempe, AZ. Our team employed advanced technologies such as LiDAR laser scanning, virtual reality, and an innovative bicycle counting technique using photographs from wildlife cameras. In addition, we gathered personal stories about bicycling in Tempe through face-to-face interviews with 17 participants. Approximately 100 participants -- including local residents, transportation planners, and decision makers -- engaged with the exhibition during five in-person sessions. Now, you have the opportunity to explore and participate virtually.
As a participant, you are invited to complete a brief, totally optional survey, a scavenger hunt, and explore six stations located throughout the exhibition area. On this website, you can explore each station and complete all the activities virtually. Additionally, you are welcome to download the resources presented at the different stations. Feel free to use, share, and display these materials as you wish.
