Human–Autonomy Teaming (HAT) requires autonomous systems that infer, anticipate, and coordinate with human partners under uncertainty. This workshop focuses on methods for leveraging behavioral models of human partners for autonomy planning and the impact these agents have in society. We invite original research and position papers that advance computational, experimental, and socio-technical foundations for robots and agentic AI that predict human intent, adapt to evolving preferences, and shape interaction dynamics to improve joint performance and user experience.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
Data-driven, cognitive, or cybernetic cognitive user models in HAT
Planning adaptive or influential autonomy actions
AI, (inverse) reinforcement learning, optimal control, game theory, learning from demonstration
Safety, ethics, and bias in behavioral modeling
Socio-technical frameworks such as Actor-Network Theory (ANT), Situated Action, etc.
Human-centered evaluation methodologies (trust, workload, equity)
Applications in autonomous vehicles, rehabilitation, manufacturing, assistive robotics, or social robotics domains
Submission format: up to 5 pages (excluding references), IEEE style (Overleaf template). Submissions may be technical papers, social-behavioral studies, or well-argued position papers. Accepted papers will be presented as posters; a subset will be selected for spotlight talks.
Submission Portal: https://openreview.net/group?id=IEEE.org/IROS/2026/Workshop/BEMHAT
Review process: peer review by two authors and/or program committee members based on relevance, rigor, originality, and clarity. Submissions must agree to reviewing two other submissions.
