As autonomous agents become increasingly integrated into complex human environments, more sophisticated approaches to planning in the presence of human teammates become necessary. Consequently, this workshop seeks to advance such planning by considering both technological advancement and societal responsibility. Speakers from the fields of AI, robotics, human factors, and critical computing are invited to discuss SOTA approaches for generating technologically sound and socially conscious behaviors in intelligent systems. Here, we focus on three key questions:
How can agents model dynamic and individualized human behaviors?
How can agents leverage these models to better plan interactive behaviors?
How can the design, development, and deployment of these systems account for the complex dynamics of power, agency, and societal responsibility within human-robot teams?
Each question will be investigated through a multi-disciplinary lens throughout this half day workshop where discussion will be guided through participant poster sessions, invited speaker talks, and an expert panel session. By the end of this workshop, participants will contribute to a coherent vision of autonomous agents in which theoretical sophistication is inseparable from socio-technical outcomes of their human partners and stakeholders.
