Anthony Barley (PI)

I’m originally from California. I received my B.S. from California State University Sacramento and I attended graduate school at the University of Kansas (KU) where I got my PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I teach courses and do research in evolution, ecology, herpetology, and conservation biology on West Campus. I love traveling, playing baseball, hiking when there are lizards around, and watching college sports (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!).

Levi Gray (Postdoctoral Researcher)

From Levi: "My primary interests lie in microevolution, speciation, and biogeography of reptiles and amphibians. A lot of my work has been focused on Anolis lizards in Mexico, though I am involved in other projects in the southwestern US and Latin America. I also worked in Guam with the invasive brown treesnake, and still collaborate on some related conservation and management projects in the Marianas Islands."
Levi is also collaborating on some of our research on whiptail lizard genomics.

Cali Ostrom (Undergraduate)

From Cali: "I'm originally from California's Sacramento Valley, I received my associate's degrees in Natural Science, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Allied Health before heading to ASU to pursue my B.S. in Biology. While I am on the pre-med track and hope to receive my M.D. someday, Herps are a hobby of mine that have led me to participate in conservation and genetic research while pursuing my bachelor's degree. In addition to herping, I love to crochet, take my telescope out for astrophotography, and get outdoors for fishing, swimming, and camping!"

Cali is working on her undergraduate honors thesis in the lab, trying to understand sex determination and identify sex-linked genomic regions in whiptail lizards using RADseq data.

Allie Collier (Undergraduate)

From Allie: "I was born in Indiana but grew up in Surprise, Arizona. I’m an undergraduate student studying environmental science at Arizona State University’s West Valley campus and am especially interested in ecology and conservation biology. I love photography, hiking, and traveling."

Allie received a New College Undergraduate Inquiry and Research Experiences Award this semester and is working on a project trying to resolve the origins of intorduced populations of whiptail lizards in the southewstern U.S. using genomic data

Maria Guzman (Undergraduate)

From Maria: "I am an Environmental Science major at ASU with an interest in ecology and in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity. Currently, I work in compiling information to help create a species account for a book on the lizards of AZ, a herpetological Natural History note describing a unique tadpole behavior, and a historic timeline and bibliography on restoration. When I am not busy with school, I like to spend my time cooking, playing tennis, hiking, and listening to music!"
