Claire Ballard is currently enrolled as a senior in the Graphic Design program at ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Originally hailing from the state of Kentucky, she, her husband, and cat have called the Sonoran Desert home since 2021. As a lifelong learner and creative thinker, Claire returned to higher education in her mid-twenties to pursue a passion for design after dabbling in many different (and odd) jobs. Her love of print and graphic design began at an early age with a strong interest in bookmaking and movie title cards that has blossomed into the many interdisciplinary interests she hopes to pursue, with her current area of focus being packaging design.
About Royal Treat
The inspiration behind Royal Treat started from a love of jewelry and playing dress up as a kid. When I began to think about how chocolate could fit into our lives through existing moments, my mind went to the feelings of getting ready for an event, going out to see friends, or starting out my day in a good headspace. The ritual of putting on my jewelry is an integrated moment that allows me to slow down and appreciate feeling elegant. I wanted to see how chocolate could play into those feelings of reward and nostalgia through form and packaging exploration.
