The Experiential Learning Affinity Network (ELAN) is a professional learning community for CHS faculty interested in promoting and engaging in teaching through experience. We share best practices for experiential learning (EL), which includes applied and service learning. This information-sharing occurs through formal and informal channels, including meetings, emails, and Slack. We are creating a compendium, or database, of best practices from our internal research-sharing that is shared with CHS as a whole; this dissemination occurs through presentations given at academic area meetings, workshops, and ultimately a conference. We intend to publish research relating to EL as well as our work in creating a faculty-led, scholarly, professional learning community to support EL in an innovative academic environment.
