Asian Medical Student Organization (AMSO)

Purpose 

AMSO hopes to further develop the humanitarian aspects of potential future doctors by instilling a sense of Leadership, Asian Awareness, Community, Morality, and Character in its members. Through the hard work of its members, AMSO hopes to increase the representation of Asian culture and heritage in the field of medicine.

Meeting Times: Meetings will take place bi-weekly on Thursday's @ 6:30 PM

Services 

Medical Buddy System: lower classmen are matched with an upperclassman who is also interested in medicine and becoming a doctor. This will nurture social outreach and allow students to better understand how difficult medical school is and how much work it requires. 


Mentoring Sessions: a service we offer in which both lower and upperclassmen can get tutored in a variety of subjects including (Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, etc.). Students will be able to also meet other students within their major to develop more connections while mastering their classes at the same time. 


Monthly diversity events: encourage the cultivation of different minority groups on campus to share the unique aspects of their cultures. The events would help promote inclusivity both within the community and the club.


Volunteering: students have the opportunity to volunteer with various organizations both on and off-campus. We provide a multitude of various opportunities to allow students to get exposed to different aspects of community service.


Food: we offer free food during our social mixer events to encourage more social interactions within our organization. In which we will bring foods from various cultures to promote different cultures within Asia.
