Aster has custom designed and built this system to measure the integrated strength and the relative harmonic content of beam line magnets. Aster developed a range of coils to accommodate quadrupoles and dipoles with bore diameters from Ø7mm to Ø140mm. Accuracy is dependent on magnet bore and strength. Sample measurement data for an SNS DTL quadrupole follows.
Aster has developed software to calculate the ‘tuning’ adjustments required to adjust the integrated field strength and/or reduce the integrated harmonic content of Halbach ring magnets based on measured data. The adjustments can be displacements of the magnet pieces and/or the addition/subtraction of small ‘tuning’ pieces.
