New for the 2024-25 school year, we've created "Hook Lessons" for each unit. This will give teachers the freedom to choose whether to teach the Algebraic skills before, during, or after doing the Application assignment. Each Hook Lesson begins with a "PS (prequisite skill) Warm-up" followed by a discussion/demonstration and a preview of the Algebraic skills & contents of the upcoming unit. Each Hook Lesson is designed to take 20-45 minutes and will virtually eliminate the dreaded question, "When are we ever going to use this!?!"
Many of these lessons will refer to the "Menu of Covariaton" which we use for our Algebra 2 class. We encourage you to copy and repurpose it to meet the needs of your math class.
PDF notesheets of each Hook Lesson will also be found under the appropriate topic page. For easy reference, we put them below as well:
Factoring & Solving Quadratics
Exponential Growth & Logarithms
Function Operations, Function Composition & Inverse Functions (a 3 lesson sequence to supplement the "Taxes, Budgeting & Functions" assignment)
