Our students worked hard for 4 weeks during library to create their own graphic novels.  Although not everyone completed the novel (so many big ideas), they worked as teams and the creativity was flowing.  They not only  learned about the Graphic Novel genre, they also learned teamwork and time management skills.  They had some great suggestions and we now have lots of ideas for next year on this project.

They divided up so each group included an author, illustrator and concept creator.  This experience taught them how every contributor plays a part in making the novel come together.  Each team came up with a beginning, middle and end to their story.  They discussed their strengths and challenges and split the work up accordingly.  In the end, they all had the option to present their novel to the class, practicing their public speaking skills.

Please excuse any misspelled names.  Writing isn't everyone's strength and some of them were a little hard to decipher.  Enjoy your student's work and ask them lots of questions!  It was super fun doing it with them.
