“The Adventures of Vito, the Beach Cat”
Vito is a cat who lives in Searsport, Maine, with his human, Oma, who is in charge of feeding him. Vito spends a lot of time down on the beach, where there are loads of crabs for him to chase and little humans with food for him to steal- especially baloney sandwiches, his favorite. His best friend is a fox everyone calls No, No, and together they like to chase Mama Quack Quack and her ducklings.
But sometimes Vito makes bad decisions that bring him problems. Oma makes him wear a collar with her address and phone number on it in case he gets lost. Vito hates his collar, so he rubs up under a bush until it comes off. Then one day a tourist family from Vermont find him without his collar and believe he is a stray. They take Vito to the animal shelter in Bucksport, where the people tell him that if they can't find his family, he will go home with the tourists from Vermont, far away from his favorite beach. Will Oma be able to get to him in time?
In this children's story, an independent beach cat gets himself into trouble when he is mistaken for a stray by tourists and taken to an animal shelter.

“Let’s Change Higher Education Forever”
Everyone talks about the $1.2 trillion U.S. student loan bubble, but few have focused on the people most negatively affected by the crisis. Why? Because sometimes the truth is so painful, and the solutions are so difficult to come by, that everyone just instinctively looks the other way. Those faces of debt belong to America's lower and lower-middle classes, which together carry 47 percent of the higher education debt in the U.S. That's $500 billion in student loan debt weighing on the shoulders of America's poorest citizens. Worse yet, about 79 percent of students from the lowest income households will never graduate, but they'll still have to pay back those loans. The combination of high debt and no degree sends these 'worst-case scenario' individuals to economic jail for decades, perhaps forever. "Let's Change Higher Education Forever: A Debt-Free Solution for a System Gone Wrong" by Aspen University's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Mathews, tells the story of the individuals living this 'worst-case scenario'-- student debt, but no degree. Mathews explains how for-profit college recruiting tactics and tuition costs contributed to this scenario and he offers a plan for a debtless education that meets the needs of the modern student.

“The Last Mission of the Miller's High Life”
World War II in the Pacific covered a vast area; however a primary focus of the war effort was on the Philippine Islands. Many Americans and Filipinos lost their lives there during this conflict. Many of them are still listed as missing in action. This is the true story of one of the missing, Francis Ford, Patrol Bombing Squadron 101, and World War II in the Philippines. The heavy bomber squadrons, somewhat unique in the U.S. Navy, flew the heavy four engine- B-24 Liberator, known as the PB4Y-1 in the naval service. This is a story of the war, and the last mission of the Miller’s High Life, their aircraft, and of the eleven men who left Morotai early in the morning of October 19, 1944. Four would never return.

“Economics and Management in the Biopharmaceutical Industry in the USA"
From a managerial perspective, the biopharmaceutical industry represents a competitive, fast-changing, intellectually-powered, innovation-driven sector. Many management scholars have studied this discontinuous era to make sense of strategic behavior and the cognition of firms and top managers. A past look at the biopharmaceutical industry provides answers to questions that most managers have. For example, what options do you have and what actions do you take when new firms enter your industry? In the 1970s, new biotechnology firms, funded by venture capitalists, appeared in the pharmaceutical industry with new knowledge. Successful pharmaceutical firms decided to collaborate with the new entrants and forge relationships to develop and create new, biotechnology-engineered drugs. Thus, the addition of new biotechnology firms ushered in a new business model based on strategic alliances. Strategic alliances have now become an industrial norm called open innovation. The author looks at the historical path of the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in the United States. While the pharmaceutical industry’s main contributions to society are substantial, there are pressing challenges the industry must face, such as an increase in infectious disease outbreaks or the global aging population, which require new types of care, additionally, mental health care and prescription painkiller addiction are persistent issues with economic repercussions to both federal and local governments.

“Improving Nursing Documentation and Reducing Risk"
In the age of electronic health records (EHR) and value-based purchasing, accurate and complete nursing documentation is crucial. Proper documentation affects not only quality of care, but also facilities’ costs and revenues. Redundant documentation wastes time and money, while inadequate documentation negatively affects Joint Commission core measures and can result in license suspensions or legal action against a healthcare facility—an expensive and often damaging outcome. Improving Nursing Documentation and Reducing Risk helps nurse managers create policies, processes, and ongoing auditing practices to ensure that complete and accurate documentation is implemented by their staff, without creating additional time burdens. Nurse managers, especially new nurse managers, do not clearly understand their legal accountability for poor or inadequate documentation created by nursing staff who report to them. While each state’s nurse practice act (NPA) differs, every NPA addresses nursing liability for documentation; however, many nurse managers remain unaware of these and other regulations that hold them accountable for the documentation crafted by their nurses. This book helps nurse managers protect themselves and their staff by clearly explaining to their employees the impact of documentation practices on reimbursement, educating them on the consequences of failure to document, and training them on how to document properly.

“Einherjar-Gnostic Warriors of the North: Way of the Einherjar"
Einherjar—Gnostic Warriors of the North: Way of the Einherjar, Vol. 1, presents an anthology of kindred discussions and practical application exercises which have been found profitable for practically applying, living, and managing one’s Asatru journey and spiritual growth along the way. In this current work, the author begins by examining the validity, mission, and esoteric system of training outlined in Norse mythology for Odin’s ancient secret society of shamanic knights—the Einherjar. Systematically, the book examines several basic and essential aspects of ancient psychological and metaphysical thought as a review of fundamental gnostic philosophy. From there a historical and theoretical backdrop for the Einherjar mythos itself is developed. “Literary symbols” within Norse mythology are considered which reveal not only an ancient Norse initiatory system of instruction, but its intended use and obligation as well. Finally, demonstrating its functionality and practical application even today, this perennial wisdom is presented as an aid for readers in the raising of their own levels of consciousness and the development of a more virtuous and noble character.

“Understanding Gifted Adolescents- Accepting the Exceptional"
Understanding Gifted Adolescents: Accepting the Exceptional addresses the basis of exclusive education for gifted adolescents from the theoretical perspective of social identity. Using the lens of social identity theory and adolescent development related to giftedness, this book builds the case for a curriculum for gifted adolescents. By providing a comprehensive foundation for exploring the concept of a more exclusive education scholastically, and debunking the “elitist” concept of gifted education, this book is a well-organized and clearly-structured exposition for the philosophy of gifted education, as well as a means of putting a curricular model into practice in American high schools. With pointed critiques of differentiated instruction in the general education classroom and the current trend of standardization and normalization in the current educational climate, a new philosophy for addressing gifted education is presented.

"Sexual Content in Young Adult Literature: Reading between the Sheets"
Though discussing sexual material in novels aimed at the young adult market may make some individuals blush, the authors of such fiction often seek to represent a very real component in the lives of many teens. Unfortunately, authentic and teen-relatable information on healthy adolescent sexuality is not readily available, and sex education classes have had a minimal effect on positive sexual identity development. Consequently, young adult literature that contains sexual elements can play a critical role in addressing the questions and concerns of teens.
In Sexual Content in Young Adult Fiction: Reading between the Sheets, Bryan Gillis and Joanna Simpson examine sexual material in canonical, historical, dystopian, romantic, and realistic contemporary fiction for teens. The authors begin with an exploration of sexual identity development and discuss the constructive influence that realistic representations of teen sexual behavior can have on that development. The authors provide a myriad of texts and examples that will help parents, teachers, and librarians better understand the positive role that sexual content in YA fiction can play in the socio-emotional and academic development of adolescents. The book concludes with an overview and analysis of censorship in the world of young adult fiction.
In addition to providing a survey of sexual content in young adult literature, this book can help inspire adults to facilitate effective and responsible discussions about young adult fiction that contains sexual material. Featuring a "novels cited" and "works cited" bibliography, Sexual Content in Young Adult Fiction is an important resource that parents and educators will find particularly valuable.

Business leaders today face unprecedented challenges―and it's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number and complexity of nonstop decision making. Packed with eye-opening research, case studies, and relatable examples from the business world, The Steadfast Leader provides practical, cutting-edge neuroscientific concepts to help you stay focused and make better decisions―for yourself, your team, and your organization.
