Some students require support to meet their needs and to experience success at ASM. Support classes include Literacy Support (English writing and reading courses focusing on building basic skills), Study Skills (a course focusing on developing essential skills such as time management, organization, and test preparation skills), and Math Foundations (a course focusing on building essential numeracy skills). Placement in these classes is determined by student achievement and records, standardized tests, teacher recommendation, and space availability in the class. The Middle School guidance counselor and the learning support specialists are available to parents and students to assist with individual student academic, behavioral, and social needs.
The Learner Support Team at ASM exists to ensure educational equity and continuity for students as they progress through the divisions of the school. We collaborate with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student growth across the K-12 spectrum. In cases where a student is identified as needing additional support, Learner Support teachers in each division offer a unique range of services.
