Advisory is the heart of our Middle School, as the work students and advisors do together is infused into all aspects of our community. Upon entering Middle School, students become part of a small, grade-level advisory group facilitated by a caring adult, their advisor.
During our 30-minute community time block, advisories generally meet daily with these objectives: to help students develop self-awareness and self-management skills; to create a caring and connected community through the development of relationship skills; to empower students to take action in our community and beyond; and finally, to support academic growth and learning.
Our vertically aligned curriculum allows students to build these skills in ways that are developmentally appropriate and engaging. Also during our community time block, we come together for Middle School community meetings, and class meetings, and to participate in other special activities.
