Welcome to “The Spark: ASM's Innovation Dialogue", the 2025 colloquium at the American School of Madrid.
At the American School of Madrid, we believe that innovation is not a place, a time, or a program—it’s a habit. It’s the habit of asking “What if?” and seeing possibilities where others see limits.
On November 19, we invite our ASM community to celebrate this spirit of curiosity, creativity, and courage at The Spark: ASM’s Innovation Dialogue.
This day-long event will showcase the action research and learning design of ASM teachers across all divisions—Lower, Middle, and Upper School. Through sessions, demonstrations, and conversations, you’ll see how innovation comes to life in every classroom, every grade, and every learner.
What to Expect
Inspiring teacher-led sessions that reimagine learning through creativity, inquiry, and research.
An engaging community panel exploring the future of education in an AI-driven world.
Opportunities to connect, question, and collaborate as we imagine what’s next for ASM.
Every teacher is now a researcher. Every classroom is a learning lab.
Together, we’re cultivating the dispositions that define innovation—curiosity, empathy, perseverance, open-mindedness, and creativity.

Middle States Association - Sustaining Excellence
ASM uses the Sustaining Excellence protocol for our accreditation with Middle States. The Sustaining Excellence protocol permits ‘leading schools’ to earn reaccreditation by focusing their time, energy, and resources, and that of their community of stakeholders, to identify an aspect of the school's educational program to improve by:
Looking at educational research
Developing an action research project
Implementing the research project and documenting the results
Sharing with the education community in the form of a colloquium.
