A Delegate is one Sibling sent to Convention, specifically to represent their Chapter/Petitioning Group. They are the only person allowed to speak on behalf of their Chapter/Petitioning Group, and retains the Chapter's/Petitioning Group's one vote, during both Open and Closed Meetings.
A Proxy Delegate is a Delegate from a separate Chapter that has volunteered to voice the opinions of a Chapter that cannot send their own Delegate. The Proxy Delegate has the same responsibilities as a Delegate, but they must communicate with the Chapter they are representing rather than their own Chapter.
A Delegate has responsibilities to their Chapter/Petitioning Group before, during, and after Convention. See the details below.
Before Convention
Gather feedback on all Proposals (i.e. budget, NBoD elections, LC confirmation, and all proposed changes to our National Documents) that are in the Convention Packet (see details below)
Read through the Convention Packet so you are aware of the content being discussed
Office hours with the National Board of Directors
During Convention
Attend all required Meetings
Update the National Organization on what your Chapter/Petitioning Group has been up to in the past year
Be an active participant in all Meetings based on the thoughts of the Chapter/Petitioning Group that you are representing
This includes talking, asking questions, voting, motioning, etc.
Talk with other Delegates and attendees to share ideas to better the Organization and their Chapter/Petitioning Group
Have fun and meet new people! Now is a great time to ask other Chapters about things that your Chapter may be struggling with :)
After Convention
Take back the knowledge and experiences from Convention to your Chapter/Petitioning Group!
Chapter/Petitioning Group Office Hours (as scheduled with the National Board of Directors)
Delegate Meeting on Thursday
All Open and Closed Meetings on Friday and Saturday
Delegates must plan their travel in order to ensure full and complete attendance. See the schedule page for more information.
Due to the size of Convention materials we are opting for an online delivery. This also allows for you all to propose friendly amendments prior to Convention.
We highly encourage you to make use of the Discussion Forums on the National Discord Server to make comments/suggestions to make the in-person discussion occur smoothly.
You will be receiving a separate email with the National Convention Packet.
