Supporting your choices
Choosing Specialist Subjects
At ASHS we encourage all learners to:
select subjects that you are passionate about
grow your curiosity by experiment with a wide range of subjects
consider future subjects and possible pathways
extend on areas that you have a talent in
pick the subjects you want to study, not the ones that your friends are doing

Additionally, the NCEA Curriculum Change Package begins in 2024 Click here for all the details.
We recommend that you consider a broad foundation at Level 1.
If you wish to choose a course from another level, please discuss this at your enrolment interview.
You will need to select FIVE SUBJECTS.
Course considerations:
You will need to take Math and English, unless you can provide evidence that you have passed the literacy and numeracy co-requisite assessments, which you may have completed at Year 10. This is to ensure that you have access to the literacy and numeracy standards, required to pass NCEA at Level 2 and 3.
Level 2 Structure
Talk to your tutor about your choices.
If you are considering a particular pathway beyond school, your tutor and/or the Careers counsellor can advise you on which subjects would best meet your needs.

3GHI - this course cannot be taken in conjunction with 3DLJ.
