COMMUNITY PROJECT (4 HOURS)/Community Service and Pre-Approval Forms

Four hours of community service per year are part of the requirements for maintaining NHS membership. Students are responsible to complete their community service on their own time and cannot complete it during schools hours.You cannot be paid for this service.The community service must be completed in the name of the National Honor Society only.Hours completed in the service for other organizations cannot be used for the National Honor Society.

Members must get approval for all community service hours from the NHS advisor by completing a pre-approval form. (pre-approval form is on the webpage) The pre-approval form must be submitted before the community service is completed and must have the advisor’s signature.

A community service form must be turned in to the NHS advisor within one week after completing the service. (community service form is on the webpage) The community service form must have a contact signature from someone within the community organization receiving the service.(The signature cannot be you parent.)

Community service must be completed between the first week in September and March 29, 2018.Failure to complete the required four hours of community service by the due date will result in a Faculty Council review of membership.No time extensions will be permitted.

SCHOOL SERVICE PROJECT (1 HOURS)

Classroom Clean-up:Each member will be assigned TWO ½ hour classroom clean-up/teacher help times for the year.

You must complete your school service on the scheduled days and report to room 605 at either 7:30 am or 3:30 pm.

October 9, 2019

November 13, 2019

December 11, 2019

January 8, 2019

February 12, 2019

March 12, 2019

School Service Project will be completed by March 12, 2019.

All member requirements should be completed by March 29, 2019.

Meeting Schedule: 7:45 am or 3:30 pm in Room 605

February 12, 2019:Reminder of member duties and check on progress

March 12, 2019:Officer/Volunteers for Induction/Fulfillment of duties check/discussion of graduation stole and tassel options and payment

(Tentatively Scheduled Meeting) March 26, 2019:Just in case members need to discuss induction and/or any other information.

OTHER IMPORTANT DATES/INFORMATION:

Tuesday, April 9, 2019:Induction Practice 3rd Period (All members must attend)

Tuesday, April , 2019:Induction at 7:00 pm in Anderson Gym (All members must attend)

Friday, April 19, 2019:Stole and Tassel Payment Due (usually around $28.00)
