Band at AMS is a class that meets daily for one period where we develop skills on our instruments, express ourselves by playing pieces of music, and work on becoming better people through music.
6th Grade - Beginning Band
6th Grade - Beginning Band
Students join as incoming 6th graders and we teach them everything they need to know about their instrument and reading music, all from the ground up! Along with our winter and spring concerts, 6th graders can participate in our district Solo & Ensemble Festival.
No prior experience is necessary!
7th & 8th Grade - Band
7th & 8th Grade - Band
Although two separate class periods, the 7th and 8th Grade Band is the premier ensemble for the music department! We perform annually for community events, school programs, band events exclusive to our music district, and the KMEA state concert band festival.

Students in the 7th/8th Grade Band have the opportunity to audition for the All-District Band, attend the Morehead State University Middle School Honor Band Clinic, and perform in the district Solo & Ensemble Festival. Additionally, select 8th Graders are asked to participate in the Paul Blazer HS Band!
