CRAFTING STORIES

In the crafting stories class, children will be able to design their own storybooks using art and craft materials. This experience:

STOP MOTION MOVIE

Stop motion movie-making provides children with a great blend of storytelling and technology use. Stop motion is a filming technique where pictures are taken as objects are moved in small increments. When the pictures are put together, it makes the objects appear to be moving. To make these movies, a free app called Stop Motion Studio will be used.

STORYTIME THEATRE: BRING STORIES TO LIFE

FILMMAKING: MAKE SPECIAL EFFECTS FILMS

Want to create impressive special effects in your videos? Most movies students watch today involve special effects, but students rarely know how they’re created, which means they can’t apply them to their own films. In this camp, students will be introduced to the exciting world of special effects filmmaking by creating a project within a day. This summer, they will:

• Learn filming, acting, editing, and popular special effects from Hollywood movies

• Make mini films with holiday-themed special effects

• Feel empowered to create impressive videos using everyday technology

• Work with teachers who have professional filmmaking experience

SCIENCE ADVENTURE - MATTER & DISCOVERING ANIMALS 

Science Adventures is a US-based, nationally-accredited science education program with over 35 years of experience. Children will be introduced to the wonders of science in an interactive and highly imaginative environment. 

The two-week summer program will cover two topics:

Matter

Students learn about all states of matter.By observing the varying behaviors of different solids and liquids, students conclude that their characteristics can also vary. They will examine more substances closely while learning how to make mixtures, separating them, using different separation methods.

Discovering Animals

Students will explore the fascinating world of wildlife. This theme encourages curiosity, hands-on learning, and an appreciation for biodiversity. Camp activities might include observing animal behaviors, learning about different habitats, studying adaptations, and even engaging in conservation efforts.

Oh no, we're stranded on a deserted island! Students will plan and build their own island to survive. They will also be trained on engineering concepts to defend against surprise.

Powerful Planet

Are you ready for an electrifying journey through the Earth and back? Welcome to Powerful Planet where children investigate alternative power while they construct an Energy Racer.  These lessons not only teach the science behind an electric car in motion, but the importance of choosing clean, renewable, alternative energy sources. In the camp, the children experiment with different kinds of energy and attempt to extract forces to get their projects in motion. Children discover a world full of clean, renewable energy and learn how to use these types of energy in their lives. Throughout the design and construction of different inventions, children learn simple ways to conserve resources around the house.

Space & Rocketry

Build and Launch Gizmo’s Hydro-Rocket!

Get pumped up for some space exploration!  Join Gizmo to build his brand new, state of the art hydro-rocket.  Using the power of air pressure and water, launch your very own rocket over 100 feet into the air.  Bring a bottle from home to design and launch a personalized rocket.  Then take a trip around the universe by building a light-up solar system and a model about the stars in our universe.
