TERM 2, 2022.

Greetings whānau - and welcome to Term 2 @ Orange at Ashgrove School.

We are really proud of the way in which our students have shown resilience and perseverance this year - and have had some great feedback about how beneficial this learning from home website has been. Tu meke!

In term 2 - We are excited to be able to warmly welcome whānau back onsite. It will be lovely to see parents and caregivers coming into school to drop off and pick up once again. For everyone’s safety and peace-of-mind we request that you do not enter classroom spaces and remain outside at this stage. If you are wanting to discuss anything with your child’s teacher please make an appointment with them to ensure that the discussion occurs at an appropriate time and place. For Parents and Caregivers at Orange, face masks are preferred but not mandated while onsite. Please be respectful of other people’s opinions around mask wearing.

As per Public Health advice for students face masks are encouraged but not required while inside. At Orange, students aged 12 and above are still required to wear a face mask on school or public transport, for example Tūrepo students attending Technology.

Please continue to use the Covid phone 022 397 2671 to notify us if your child is a household contact or has Covid. You will need to provide us with this key information:

  1. Child’s name and Team

  2. If s/he is a household contact or has Covid

  3. The date of their Day 0 (Symptoms first showing or positive test - whichever came first).

  4. If you would like to use the Home learning website or if you will require a printed Home learning pack.

We are very happy that there will be opportunities for parents and caregivers to attend events here at school this term such as the Mihi Whakatau and Matariki Breakfast. We will provide more information about these events as they are finalised.

We will continue to keep all the other health measures in place at school that we know slow the spread of COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette and, most importantly, staying home if we are sick. We will provide a weekly update letting you know of Covid cases at Ashgrove.

We are looking forward to a few less restrictions and returning to school life that is a bit closer to normal.
