Eligibility/Categories

Rules

All students attending school in North Carolina are eligible to enter. Projects may be entered in the following categories:

    • Primary: Grades K-2 (Individual or Class Projects)

    • Elementary: Grades 3-4 (Individual or Class Projects)

    • Intermediate: Grades 5-6 (Individual Project or Class Projects)

    • Middle School: Grades 7-8 (Individual Projects)

    • High School: Grades 9-12 (Individual Projects)

Notes:

* Class projects must involve a majority of the students in that class. Individual projects involve one or two students only.

* If a student is paired up with another student from a different division, then they must compete in the higher division.

For example, if a 6th and 7th-grader pair up on a project, then they must enter the Middle School Division (7-8), not the Intermediate Division (5-6).

* Projects must be pre-registered (online) to be accepted for competition.

* There is a limit of 3 projects per school per category.

* Each project must be represented by 1 or 2 students whose names appear on the project.

* Schools may only enter projects at one regional fair.
