About the Library

Mission

The mission of the ASH Middle School Library is to help students to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning, to become competent and ethical users of information as well as media-savvy, digital citizens, and to learn more about how to be contributing members of the global community. Additionally, our library offers students a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment for independent reading and learning before school, during breaks, and after school.

Information Literacy Skills

The instruction of information literacy skills throughout the year is coordinated by the ASH Middle School Librarian and is taught in collaboration with classroom teachers in all the grade levels.

Resources

The library provides students with a wide range of resources including an online catalog, books, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eRead-Alongs, magazines, and numerous online subscription databases and encyclopedias, which are password protected (access codes can be found in the student agenda and on InsideASH, under the Online Subscription "Access Codes" section).

Library Standards

The ASH Libraries follow the American Association for School Library Standards. The AASLS standards include six shared foundations: inquire, include, collaborate, curate, explore, and engage.
