The Galactic Prime Directive Working Group, which is being established under the sponsorship of the Asgardia Foreign Affairs Committee, will be dedicated to promoting ethical and responsible space exploration. Its mission is to safeguard cultural heritage, protect extraterrestrial life, and ensure compliance with international space law. It will comprise experts in space law, ethics, astrobiology, cultural anthropology, security analysis, diplomacy, engineering, medicine, environmental science, policy, and administration. The group addresses the complex challenges of space exploration. We hope this working group will uphold principles of non-interference and cultural preservation through global representation, interdisciplinary collaboration, regular meetings, transparency, accountability, ethical standards, and robust security protocols. The action plan defines the group’s structure, including the chairperson, vice-chairperson, subcommittees, advisory board, and secretariat. It emphasizes international engagement, global conferences, public awareness, and collaborative negotiation to advance the Galactic Prime Directive as a global initiative. Asgardia’s contribution includes the formation of the Galactic Prime Directive Advisory Board, which provides expertise and guidance in all relevant fields. The Board’s objectives are to raise awareness, promote collaboration, and support the establishment of an international working group that will lead humanity into a new era of interstellar space law.

The Galactic Prime Directive Charter was created by the Asgardia Space Nation to establish a comprehensive and ethical framework for humanity’s conduct as we venture into interstellar space. Recognizing the profound responsibility that comes with representing Earth among the stars, Asgardia sought to inspire unity, wisdom, and responsible stewardship in all extraterrestrial engagements. 

This Charter sets forth universal standards for interactions with extraterrestrial life and celestial realms, emphasizing non-interference, protection of natural and cultural evolution, and the responsible pursuit of knowledge.
