ASFM offers two diploma options, the Dual Diploma or the U.S. High School Diploma.
Dual Diploma = Mexican Bachillerato + U.S. H.S. Diploma
U.S. Diploma* = U.S. High School Diploma
For the Mexican Bachillerato Diploma program, students need to have the Secretary of Education (SEP) certificate or validation for Primary (6th grade) and Secondary (7th, 8th and 9th grades). In addition, students must be either native Spanish speakers or be able to demonstrate sufficient Spanish proficiency to enable the student to successfully complete coursework that is taught in Spanish. It is important to note that the Bachillerato is a prerequisite to enroll in a university degree program in many Latin American universities (including all of Mexico).
*This option requires a meeting with your counselor.
Part of the graduation requirements for ASFM HS students is to engage in
at least 100 hours of service.
The recommended time frame to complete them is as follows:
Grade 9 - minimum of 10 hours
Grade 10 - minimum of 30 hours
Grade 11 - minimum of 30 hours
Grade 12 - minimum of 30 hours
If a student will be studying abroad during their HS, there will be no reduction in this requirement. If the student engages in community service during their time abroad, it is the student’s responsibility to submit a community service letter from their school that describes the services provided by the student and the date, venue, and duration of service.
