10th Grade Biology: Enhancing Long-Term Memory through Active Recall
In our commitment to adopting evidence-based learning strategies, Mr. Marty's biology class regularly practices'Active Recall.'. Students are encouraged to retrieve information without aid, ensuring a deeper and longer-lasting grasp of the material. This method not only prepares them for upcoming assessments but also nurtures a robust academic foundation.
A digital space to stay tuned to your child's high school experience and opportunities.
THANK YOU, HIGH SCHOOL!
On behalf of the entire High School staff, I extend our heartfelt thanks for the thoughtful birthday gifts from the high school students and their families. A special thank you to the Parents Association for their excellent coordination. Our teachers received their gifts on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, and were delighted by the gesture.
We deeply appreciate your continuous support and the wonderful way you celebrate our dedicated team!
24-25 Course Requests
Students currently in 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades have submitted their course requests for the 2024-2025 school year. Each student was required to create a PDF of their course selections. We encourage parents to review this document with their children to understand the courses they are considering for the upcoming school year. While we strive to accommodate all requests, please note that it may not be possible to fulfill every one. However, we are committed to meeting the needs of as many students as possible.

NWEA MAP TESTING - Math and English
During the next three weeks, 9th and 10th grade students will be taking a MAP assessment during their Math and English classes to test various skills based on the Common Core Standards. Students generally use about 60-90 minutes to complete each test but extended time is offered for every student if necessary.
ASFG uses these tests to monitor our academic program, teachers use these results to align instruction to student progress, and students use these results to understand how to meet their academic goals. These results are also used to understand how students should be placed in courses for honors and Advanced Placement options during upcoming school years. Therefore, we place high importance on taking these assessment opportunities seriously and on being present for the testing days.
How can family members help?
Have a nightly routine that supports your child to get a good night's sleep
Offer your child a healthy breakfast
Ensure your child is present at school and do not allow vacations to replace school attendance
Ask your child about their goals and results of the MAP assessments
Thank you for your continued support to make everyday a great day for learning.
