Class Meetings

Class meetings are meetings in which the counselor along with the teachers facilitates discussion on a variety of topics. Some of the goals for having a class meeting are:

To have students practice assertive communication
To teach about bullying prevention
To teach and guide conflict resolutions steps
To help with self-awareness and empathy
To provide opportunities to be heard in a safe environment
To build a sense of community and belonging
To help the teacher learn about the “inner life” of a class
To provide a forum for dealing with difficult dynamics in the classroom
To learn about students opinions and feelings
