Digital Citizenship Week

November 6th - 10th, 2023

We will celebrate digital citizenship school-wide with a variety of activities to learn how we can use devices and the internet safely, ethically and effectively to make the digital world a better place.

Union Lunch Activities

There will be digital citizenship activities in the Union during lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for students to participate in.

Movie Monday

Students will watch video about digital citizenship in class! We recommend that you choose a video to watch and discuss at home as well.

Media Balance & Well-Being: Students will reflect on the impact media use has on their life. They will think about the balance between their time on devices & time doing other activities. 

Text Tuesday

The other kind of text! Read a book or article about an aspect of digital citizenship. 

-Picture Book Read Alouds for EC - 6th

-Dig Cit books on Epic! for EC - 6th

-Articles for Middle & Upper School

Privacy & Security: Students will think about their online privacy and how they can keep your personal information safe. 

Win It Wednesday

Students will design a physical or digital bookmark promoting good digital citizenship (suggested tool for digital design is Canva). Winning entries will be distributed next Digital Citizenship Week and the top entries will receive a prize. Students can submit their digital entries here and can turn in physical entries to their division's front office. 

EC and Lower School students could also complete one of the coloring pages or printable activities. Middle and Upper School students could also complete a module on Social Media Test Drive.

Digital Footprint & Online Identity: Students will consider the risks & benefits of online sharing and how it can impact self, relationships & reputation. 

Think It Through Thursday

Have a discussion about a digital citizenship topic using the Everyday Dig Cit program.

Relationships & Communication Online: Students will learn how to keep online relationships positive & friendly. They will learn how to be safe when interacting with others online, especially if they don’t know them in person. 

Fun Friday

Digital citizenship game time! Here are fun games that allow students to practice their digital citizenship and internet safety skills. 

Cyberbullying & Digital Drama: Students will learn to treat others the way they want to be treated as well as how to be an upstander and help build positive, supportive online communities.
