Students have two options that allow them the opportunity to serve and build relationships with people in our community: an traditional hours-based model or a project-based model. Within a project-based model, students can propose a unique service project that they would execute within the community. Similar to an Eagle Scout Project, students have the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills, including but not limited to brainstorming, collaboration, empathy, and project execution as they seek to make a positive different in the lives of others through a project-based model.
Each year, students have the choice to submit a project proposal to the Service Learning Committee where they will discuss the plans and timeline of the proposed project. Documentation and an end-of-the-year reflection will need to be submitted by the student, showing evidence of work completed while also sharing insight on the learning that took place during the project.
