Hello! How are you?

Mrs. Kate when I was in Elementary School
My name is Mrs. Kate and I am the Title VI Indigenous Student Support Specialist at Tyson Elementary. I started working with our Indian Education students in November of 2019. Prior to that, I had been working at Tyson for many years as a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant.
I know our Tyson students and community well and have enjoyed watching how students and families have grown over the years.
My husband and I live in the Tyson neighborhood and we have four super cool awesome kids! My kids are in 4th, 7th, 8th, and 11th Grade. Our family loves to spend time together, playing games, singing together, being creative and just hanging out together watching some of our favorite movies. We like to go fishing in the summer and my kids like to join my husband on hunting trips in the Fall.
I grew up in Central Minnesota and and graduated from college in Chicago, Illinois. I have now lived in Alaska for almost 15 years and I love living here. Alaska has so many wonderful things to do and there are so many things to learn about where we live and call home. All of my kids were born here in Anchorage, two of them look just like me and two of them have the beautiful black hair and brown eyes of their Inupiaq family.
My oldest daughter just starred in West High School's Musical
