Hawk Highlights
Message from your Principal:
Dear Hanshew Families,
Welcome to the new 2024-2025 middle school year with our amazing 6th graders! We have started the first 3 weeks strong and will continue this momentum throughout the school year! Thank you for such a great presence during Open House. It was so nice to meet the families and learn more about your student.
As the 1st quarter progresses, please encourage your student to check their grades online through canvas and Q and attend tutoring if needed. We have partnered with the students from the Service HS National Honor Society to tutor our students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5:15pm in the library. Barbara Harper is the Hanshew teacher who will be supervising your student in the library as they are getting help. Please reach out to her if you have questions or concerns.
This month is Attendance awareness month. Please discuss the importance of attending school every day on time. Attendance equals success! We will also celebrate Latinx Heritage Month from September 15-October 15th. So, if are part of the Latinx or Hispanic culture and would like to share your experiences with the students of Hanshew, please email me.
Next week marks the half way period of the 1st quarter. Counselors will be sending our D and F emails to the families of students who have those grades in one or more classes. Please reach out to the teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
October 14th is Indigenous People's Day and there is no school. October 18th is the end of the 1st quarter and there is no school for students. Teachers will be grading, completing assessments, and planning on thdat day. The following week, October 21-25, 2024 will be parent teacher conferences. More informtion regarding specific dates and times will be forthcoming.
As always, thank you for your support, patience, and understanding this school year! Thank you for also entrusting us with the education and care of your students, we appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Lakhita Hodge
